This chapter was really interesting because it talked about the religous views of China and India. I thought it was interesting how different the treated women. I was expecting worse from the Chinese religions, but they actually let them go to school and participate in rituals. If they were high up enough, they woukd even let them chose their husbands! But in India it was COMPLETELY different. The women were harashly looked down upon. They said that women are seen as “unclean below the naval”. Thats pretty degrading to look at a gender that way. The women of India were to serve their husbands as a if they were gods. And if the husband dies, the women is subjected to someone else, and if not them then the next male. They are never to be alone, even in their youth! So gross! Indian women had it way harder than Chinese women in my opinion.
